On a summer's evening, 30 November 1976, a meeting was convened by Rev Bob Griffiths and Rev Lin Reilly at the City Congregational Church. The small gathering was attended by delegates from St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, the City Congregational Church , St Stephen's Cathedral and the Wesley Central Mission who agreed to sponsor a new project entitled the "Brisbane Youth Service". That meeting marked the beginning of Brisbane Youth Service, over 40 years ago. The new organisation in the early days had little or no funding, no premises and no paid staff but still managed to provide new futures for young people in Brisbane.

We had a daggy extravaganza at Brisbane Youth Service for the launch of Daggy Jumper Day 2017. Daggy Jumper Day is our premiere fundraising event with all funds raised supporting young people aged 12-25 and their families.
Daggy Jumper Day - winter's uncoolest day - will take place on Friday 28 July but you can register now to participate. We want individuals and teams to get sponsored for wearing a daggy jumper or holding a daggy themed event.

Yes we are turning forty! Brisbane Youth Service has been operating in Brisbane, helping vulnerable young people since 1977. Over that time we have helped tens of thousands of young people experiencing difficulties in their lives.
We are very proud of what we have achieved over this time and how we have matured and grown as an organisation. To mark this momentous occasion, we will be holding a celebration in October for all our many friends and supporters, past and present.

We are very proud of our outcomes for young people at BYS. Each year we conduct a survey of young people to see if we are on the right track with our services and responsiveness. This year we conducted 139 surveys (representing approximately 10% of the young people we see each year). The good news was that 93% of young people were very happy with our services and would recommend BYS to other young people. We also asked young people how we could improve.
