In response to the Brisbane Youth Service's 'A Home for Christmas Appeal', BYS raised $29,640 for young people through 97 donations.
Thank you to our incredibly generous donors for choosing to support homeless and at-risk youth at what can be a very challenging and lonely time.
We smashed our $20,000 target and thanks to our donors, at least 20 more young people now have a place to call home!

The University of Queensland has put together a short video thanking donors for supporting key projects including BYS's pop-up dental clinic.
The clinic offers young people the opportunity to have simple dental procedures like check ups, fillings, cleans at the Brisbane Youth Service Hub in Fortitude Valley. Our next clinic will run from 12th -16th March and we are taking bookings now.
UQ, with help from some generous donors, helped us establish the clinic last year and the feedback from young people has been very positive.

Febfast is a fun, annual fundraising event which supports Brisbane Youth Service and helps raise funds for vulnerable young people.
This year we are encouraging friends and supporters of Brisbane Youth Service to get behind febfast by registering for febfast. The idea is very simple – you give up sugar or alcohol or something else of your choosing during February and get sponsorship for doing it. Funds raised will come to BYS to support vulnerable young people. Febfast is also a great opportunity for you and your organisation to “pause for a cause” and get healthy during February.

BYS is very proud to present you our new short film. In it youth workers and five extraordinary young people describe our day to day work, and the new futures that young people are creating for themselves. Many thanks to the staff and young people involved and to our very talented videographer, Ben Ashmole, who donated weeks of his time working on this lovely production.

The support Brisbane Youth Service receives from the community makes a huge difference to what we can achieve. On 14 September we were very fortunate to have a large team of staff from Lendlease helping to renovate Sandgate House.
Sandgate House is one of our fully supported accommodation services. Brisbane Youth Service has three programs working with young people from the ages of 15 to 18. In these 24-7 supervised housing models, youth workers provide case management and emotional support to meet the most essential and immediate needs of the young people.

At BYS we greatly value the work and skills that volunteers bring to the organisation.
Rhian Thomas has been volunteering with BYS for two years, commencing by providing administrative support to our fundraising efforts and since January 2016, cooking the Tuesday family lunch for young parents and their children at the Centre for Young Families.
Rhian plans the meal and cooks for six to eight families each week. She coordinates with staff from the Centre for Young Families in advance so that they can shop for what is needed. Some of the fresh produce is also delivered by Second Bite, a wonderful organisation which provides fresh food, which might otherwise go to waste, to people in need.
