Navigating challenges

Many of the young parents we support are navigating a range of challenges and we can assist in the following ways:

Finding and maintaining secure housing

Strengthening attachment with their children

Healthy child development

Parenting skills

Improving living and tenancy skills including budgeting and managing finances

Navigating Child Safety involvement

Support with domestic and family violence

Linking in with other relevant services as required

Increasing social connection and support through the young families group

Young Families Group

Our young families group provides a safe space for young parents and children to connect and learn key skills to nurture their child’s physical, emotional and cognitive development.

This group runs weekly during the school term and provides an opportunity to combat social isolation and to provide a space for young parents to share experiences and support each other.

Young Dads

Our Young Dads worker can work with young dads individually to support them in their important roles as fathers and partners.

We can support dads through their transition to early parenting, with parenting skills and more generally with how they relate to those around them and their children.

Our Young Dads worker can help with housing, tenancy issues, legal or court matters, mental health and wellbeing as well as supporting young dads to engage and build great relationships with their precious babies/toddlers/children.
