Brisbane Youth Service to Move to New Youth Support Centre at 518 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley

Oct 18, 2024

Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) is excited to announce the move to a purpose-built Youth Support Centre at 518 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley. The new centre will open on Monday 4 November, offering a one-stop-shop for young people seeking help with housing, health, domestic and family violence, and other support services.

In preparation for the move, the current ‘Hub’ at 42 McLachlan Street will close at 3 pm on Friday 25 October. From Monday 28 October to Wednesday 30 October, BYS will continue to offer phone support, but will be closed on Thursday 31 October and Friday 1 November. Services will resume at the new centre on Monday 4 November, just 500 metres away from the current location.

This transition will allow BYS to expand its services and better meet the growing demand, supporting over 500 additional young people each year in a centralised and safe environment. The new centre consolidates vital services under one roof, ensuring young people can access the coordinated support they need to address complex issues such as homelessness, mental and primary health, and domestic and family violence.

Pam Barker, CEO of Brisbane Youth Service, said, “Consolidating these crucial supports in one, safe place will give young people and young families a genuine opportunity to achieve continuity of care and address the complex and often intersecting issues that have led them into crisis. Streamlining access to crucial supports is a major victory in helping to address the housing crisis in Queensland.”
