Our CEO, Pam Barker, recently spoke with ABC’s Elizabeth Cramsie about the year-on-year increase in young people needing crisis accommodation and the barriers they face in accessing housing.
With youth homelessness at crisis point, we have joined over 150 other organisations in supporting the national Home Time campaign, urging federal, state and territory governments to build 15,000 dedicated youth tenancies across Australia to help break the cycle.
“In 2023 and 2024, we saw a 16% increase from the previous year in young people requesting support. That’s 68,310 occasions of supports provided. That increase is happening incrementally on top of the previous numbers of young people wanting support.” she said.
