The very week before World Oral Health Day 10 amazing oral health practitioners from South East Queesland volunteered their time at the BYS pop-up dental clinic during the week of 12-16 March.
29 young people went away with bigger, brighter smiles due to these generous oral health professionals.
BYS offers week long ‘pop up’ dental clinics at our Fortitude Valley HUB four times per year.
The pop-up dental clinic is run at the BYS Hub 42 McLachlan St Fortitude Valley. The service is completely free and no Medicare Card required. To attend the dental clinic a young person can self refer by calling BYS or a worker can call on their behalf.
Treatment provided includes free check- ups, cleans, fillings and oral health advice, in a friendly and comfortable environment.
Young people who have attended appointments at the BYS dental clinic before are welcome to book again. More complex dental work has to be followed up elsewhere but the volunteer dental staff can give advice on options.
The program has been developed in partnership with the University of Queensland’s School of Dentistry, with support from the Ian Potter Foundation, the Cecilia Kilkeary Foundation, and Colgate, and is staffed by volunteer dental health professionals.
