Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) is proud to announce its silver Australasian Reporting Award 2024 for distinguished achievement in reporting! The BYS Annual Report provides comprehensive details of the organisation’s operations and financial performance over the past year. It showcases the extensive range of essential programs and services that BYS provides to young people, and their children, at risk or experiencing homelessness. Brisbane.
Pam Baker, Brisbane Youth Service CEO, shared her excitement at the award result, “I’m so proud of the entire BYS team and the important work they do that contributes to life-changing outcomes for young people, encapsulated in our Annual Reports. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, as well as the trust and support of our community and stakeholders.”
The Annual Report features first-person stories from young people who have received support from BYS. These stories illustrate both their journeys and the transformative impact of timely, wrap-around supports.
BYS’ Head of Marketing and Communications, Emily Nunes, who led the compilation and design of the report, emphasised the importance of these stories: “The stories and quotes shared by young people are what makes our Annual Reports come alive. They provide a powerful demonstration of the impact of our programs and services, and the strength, resilience and achievements of the young people we work with.”
Another integral component of the Annual Report involves comprehensive data analysis encompassing the support provided to young people and program outcomes from the previous financial year. This analysis provides valuable insights into trends, successes, and areas for improvement, guiding future innovations and strategies. It underscores a commitment to transparency and BYS’s core value of accountability.
Catherine Mann, Research and Evaluation Coordinator at BYS, highlighted the evolution of data representation in the Annual Report, “A few years ago, we transitioned how we present challenges and outcomes across service areas to enhance clarity and informativeness. It’s essential for stakeholders to easily grasp the genuine impact of our programs.”
The recognition from the Australian Annual Report Awards 2024 reaffirms BYS’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and excellence in reporting its achievements and challenges.
As encapsulated by Emily Nunes, “We are working on the 2023-2024 Annual Report now, and with a priority on improving accessibility and condensing information for maximum impact, we hope to make it the best one yet”.
