BYS congratulates and welcomes our new Minister for Housing, the Honourable Meaghan Scanlon MP. Following the cabinet shake-up, BYS CEO Pam Barker shared her thoughts with the Courier Mail on the pressing priorities and potential solutions for the new housing minister.
Minister Scanlon visited BYS late last year for a frank discussion about how to address the needs of the growing number of at-risk and vulnerable young people experiencing homelessness in our community. Since then, the housing crisis has continued to escalate and right now many young people have no safe housing options.
We look forward to working together to expand the services that are already up and running, while we design immediate responses and longer-term solutions that address the need of more housing for children and young people.
