Mental Health Support
We provide appointment based, one-to-one counselling with a registered psychologist. This is a free, confidential, service for BYS clients, and is operational between February to June, and between July/August to early December. The program is closed in June and again in December/January. Referrals can be made to other counselling options outside of BYS for continued support, including Better Access, and to a variety of independent psychologists in the community. If you are a BYS client and would like to make an appointment with a registered psychologist, contact the Valley Hub on 3620 2400 or email us.

The next Dental Clinic at BYS will run between Monday 10 September and Friday 14 September 2018 (with the exception of Wednesday morning when the HUB at 42 McLachlan St is closed).
Young people can receive check-ups, cleans and basic fillings. More complex dental work has to be followed up elsewhere and the volunteer dental staff can give advice on options. We cannot do cosmetic treatments.
The dental clinics are appointment based. Young people can self refer by calling BYS on 3620 2400, or a worker can book on their behalf. We still have plenty of available appointment spaces.
We will send text message reminders to young people the day before their appointments, but do ask that if young people know in advance they are unable to attend at their booked time that they let us know, as there will be high demand for appointment spaces. We will do our best to re-arrange, where possible.
Young people who attended appointments at the BYS dental clinic before are welcome to book again.
BYS offers week long ‘pop up’ dental clinics at our Fortitude Valley HUB four times per year.
Treatment provided includes free check- ups, cleans, fillings and oral health advice, in a friendly and comfortable environment.
The program has been developed in partnership with the University of Queensland’s School of Dentistry, with support from the Ian Potter Foundation, the Cecilia Kilkeary Foundation, and Colgate, and is staffed by volunteer dental health professionals.
Dates will be announced a few weeks in advance of each session, and you can book by phoning 3620 2400, or through your youth worker.
