NAIDOC Week

Aug 14, 2018

Under the theme – Because of Her, We Can! – NAIDOC Week 2018 was held nationally from Sunday 8 July through to Sunday 15 July.

The theme celebrated the essential role that women have played – and continue to play – as active and significant role models at the community, local, state and national levels. During NAIDOC week, Brisbane Youth Service celebrated the invaluable contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made and participated in the Musgrave Park Family Fun Day

In 17/18, twenty-eight percent of the young people supported at BYS identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, up from 26% the previous year.

BYS is working to diversify our workforce to strengthen our service response for young people facing homelessness. We are delighted to have recently welcomed a number of staff who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to our team.
